The Curious Incident of the Dog ... 5

Dear 3 ege class students,

You all have shown
quite a lot of sensitivity for the relations between the literary characters. The mother's unfaithfulness has obviously bothered you the most!
Does this mean that you also appreciate faithfulness that much in your private life?

As for the mother's looks, you can read on the page 24:"Mother was a small person who smelt nice." Only one mentioning, so no wonder you couldn't recall.

Now let's move to the 5th, the last task in this cluster.

As you know, Christopher has a row of behavioral problems, described as autistic.
Just to name some of them: not talking to people for a long time, not liking being touched, screaming, refusing food, especially if it is the "wrong" colour ( yellow or brown in Christopher's case) ...

WHAT WOULD GO ON WITH YOU, YOUR TEACHERS AND CHRISTOPHER IF HE SPENT A MORNING WITH YOUR CLASS?

How would you approach him? Would he be able to endure with so many people in one room? ... Just unleash your imagination. OK?

The film on autism, Rainman; starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman
We must watch it once in the near future!

The Curious Incident of the Dog ... 4

Dear 3 ege class students!

You've been doing so well that we should switch to blogging more often in the future! By the way, who is Gapi?
Peter's remark that Cristopher's dad should find himself a new wife, respectively a new mum for the boy, is well down-to-earth.

Now bite into the TASK no. 4

We can presume that Ch. misses his mother a lot although he doesn't complain and also tries not to show his sorrow.

-Where is she - according to the first hundred pages?
-What have we learned so far about her character, her looks, her actions?
-Can we state that she was a good parent to Ch.?
Justify whatever you say.

I am looking forward to your original comments. Aren't you curious to learn more about the story? In any case, do read on to the page 150. The deadline:5/2/2007

The Curious Incident of the Dog ... 3

DEAR 3 EGE CLASS STUDENTS,

Thank you for your mature comments.

And here is the 3rd challenging task for you!

Christopher takes up a role of a detective and looks for the murderer of the dog.
- Who has killed the dog, in your opinion?
- And which detective does he try to imitate?

The Curious Incident of the Dog ... 2

Dear 3ege class students!

Here is the 2nd stimulus for your discussion of the Haddon's novel!

Do you agree with Christopher's perception of The Monty Hall Problem (page 78-82)?
What is the possibility to win the car, in your opinion? Justify it logically.

Mark Haddon, the author

The Curious Incident of the Dog ... 1

Dear 3ege class students!

So far we've read the book to the page 100. What are your comments on the following:

Namely one of the girls has said that Christopher's father is totally unsuitable to care for the boy as a single parent and that the boy should be taken to an appropriate institution.
Do you think that he is really such a bad father?

Your comments will be properly evaluated.
